My male, Shooter, learned outstanding obedience and discipline along with retrieving skills while my female, Belle, picked up on retrieving with your assistance like she was born to do. Her first live retrieve was in the frozen, flooded rice fields of northeast Arkansas. At a year and a half old, she sat perfectly still, watched the ducks come in, watched them fall, marked them and went on my command bounding through ice for her first taste of a fat mallard drake. It was a sight to see and she hasn't slowed down since. I felt like a proud parent watching a child succeed.
